the amandzing way

hey man?

hey man?

do you believe I cannot love you;
respect you; understand you,
as I love myself
free myself, be with…
myself?
do you believe I am so small
on the wall
of life,
that I do not matter, that I am inconsequential,
immaterial; infrequent; an irritating stone in your heel?
do you think I am not your mother; your sister;
your aunt; your niece?
if I am none of these things to you,
then at least let me be a woman
then at least let me be human
don’t let my blood stain Africa’s soil,
stain your soul; your knife;
don’t let your gun smoke take my life
i am tired now
of dying to please you
Wathint Abafazi’… Wathint’ Imbokodo
i don’t want to roar
but I will

  1. abnegation says:

    eye think eye found a new favorite!

    “that I do not matter, that I am inconsequential,/ immaterial; infrequent; an irritating stone in your heel?”
    —— eyeve always been a sucker for soft alliteration

    “if I am none of these things to you,/ then at least let me be a woman”
    —— totally kicks a$$!

    thank you
