senseless death

i saw you now
your blood running down the tar
mingles with mine still
pumping slowly through my veins

im so sorry
i never knew you
you must have been a fantastic human
to die so senselessly for your job

it’s hot here in the sun
where I stand
how cold you must be
lying under your blanket

the wreckage of your car
a silent testimony
to your dedication
to your last moment

we were colleagues
once and the pain of
a fallen member
stays the same

go in peace unknown cop
join those other brave souls
with pride
i didn’t know you but still I cry

I love the co mingling of the blood in the beginging. very nice. brings forth the connectivity we have even with strangers

I feel this very acutely. Sad, nut very well written. The simplicity couches the complexity very, very well.
