i wish

i wish
i could photograph your song, noisy little mynah
kreekit kreekit kreekit
breaking the drone of traffic roaring, grinding, accelerating
past this tiny shadow thrown by these
three grand old trees
waiting for me to move
to my next story
i wish
i could photograph your song, noisy little mynah
and play your
kreekit kreekit kreekit kreeeech
to those poor, deprived busy little
traffic rats
so terribly, twitchily, busy in their little mobile caves
they don’t know what they’re missing

The stands and stalls and showcases of booksellers are filled with titles but do not show poetry.
The famous literary awards do not find poets.
One doesn’t come across poetry making best sellers.
The ongoing poetry contests are an affair between poets and societies organizing these contests. Their poetry doesn’t trickle into public life.
Poetry has taken back seat. Only 50 years ago the picture was different in my part of the world, India.
I wanted poets to come together believing something will come out of their interaction.
Please take it up and interact if it has interested you.
